I moved to Canso, Nova Scotia three years ago from Ontario. Canso is a little town of about eight hundred and some people “at the end of the earth.” I call it the end of the earth because the town is quite literally at the end of the road that leads down to the most easterly point of mainland North America. People are always asking why I came and sometimes I actually forget the reason but that is because there were probably multiple reasons for coming.
One of the reasons for coming was definitely about relocating to somewhere close to the ocean. At this point I was looking for something to throw my energies into as my youngest daughter was abouts to leave home for University. I don’t think that when my two older children left home, their leaving had such an impact on my psche as when my youngest left the nest. Realizing that this phase of my life was actually over I needed to embark on something new.
